Amazona tucumana

Common Name(s): Tucumán Amazon

Natural Range: Argentina  provinces of Tucumán, Salta and Jujuy as well as the southeast Bolivia provinces of Chuquisaca and Tarija.
 
Description: Length 10 inches. Body green with all except wing feathers having a dark edging. Forehead and crown red. Bill light horn colored. Iris is orange-yellow and feet are brownish grey.
Comments about (sub)species: Not as uncommon in aviculture as some of the other amazons but still not very common. If you have any info on this species talking ability and/or diposition please send me an email.  **Was once classified as Amazona pretrei tucumana.
