| Comments about (sub)species: Known to be an Excellent talker with many believing it is the best talking Amazon. They have excellent voice quality and can usually be taught to sing fairly easily. I have heard the temperament of this bird describe as spicy and I must agree. Males (and some females) from this species at maturity can become little devils if not properly trained and socialized while young. Andrew Jackson owned a Yellow-naped Amazon named "Pol" that was ejected from his funeral in 1845 for swearing. | |
